Participation, exploration and education are at the heart of sound, and we offer opportunities to take part all year round.

For young people
We offer a range of creative performance and composition workshops, discussions and masterclasses for young people. Opportunities include Get Composing, a series of composition workshops for young people in the North East which includes Go Compose!, a popular annual 3-day composition course in the school October holidays.

For composers
sound supports local, national and UK composers to develop their talent through supported commissions, mentoring, skills development and workshops.

For schools
We regularly offer workshop opportunities for schools in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

If you’re a teacher looking for ideas to help you make music in the classroom download our accessible toolkit.

For the community
We offer singing days and other opportunities for members of the local community to take part in.

For harp players
If you are a lever harp player of intermediate standard visit The Aberdeen Harp Project page where you will find newly commissioned pieces to download by composers including Sally Beamish, Ruth Wall, Şirin Pancaroğlu and Snorri Sigfus Birgisson.
