Go Compose! is a composition course for young composers aged 13-18 and in full time education.

"The best thing about Go Compose was hearing my piece being played by professional musicians!"

It’s a unique opportunity to work with professional composers and musicians from Red Note Ensemble who we run the course in partnership with.

Over 3 days you will create your own, original piece of music which will be performed at the end of the course. You will also receive a recording of your piece.

If you are enthusiastic about writing your own, original music and keen to try out new ideas then this is the course for you!

We are looking for young people with creative potential and commitment to the course. If you are enthusiastic about writing your own, original music and keen to try out new musical ideas then this is the course for you!

The course in 2023 will take place at Woodend Barn, Banchory Sunday 15 October - Tuesday 17 October. Go Compose! will be lead by professional contemporary composers Bekah Simms and Elise Haller-Shannon. Bekah and Elise will be joined by professional musicians from Red Note Ensemble who play flute, viola and percussion, and they are very creative and open about the kinds of music they play!
