Get Creative for Young People aged 8-18

Get Creative is a creative music making programme for young people in North East Scotland aged between 8-18 years run by sound in Aberdeen.

Get Creative offers performance and composition workshops throughout the year giving young people the opportunity to gain skills, experiences and a wider understanding of creative music making with professional composers and musicians.

Current opportunities

Creative Orchestra for instrumentalists in primary school aged 8-11

Children can be of any standard.

Please note that the suggested ages are only a guideline - we encourage participants to attend the group that would be most beneficial to them at this point in their creative development, regardless of age.

Sonic Stroll

Join us for a fun and exploratory session as we wander through Union Terrace Gardens, tuning in to the sounds of the city. From rustling leaves to city echoes, we’ll gather inspiration from the environment around us. In May, the group will transform these discovered sounds into an original piece of music to be featured at the Light the Blue Festival Family Arts Day. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, don’t worry, we’ll have a backup plan ready so the creativity can continue.

Meet at the entrance of Aberdeen Art Gallery before setting off together on the soundwalk.

19th April 2026 2pm-3.45pm | Meet at the entrance of Aberdeen Art Gallery
