Paul Lovens
Paul Lovens (born in Aachen, Germany) plays drums, percussion, singing saw and various selected and unselected cymbals. He has also performed with the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra and Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra.
Since 1970, he has been one of the most prominent drummers in Europe in the improvised music scene. He was part of the Schlippenbach Trio, and since then has played with musicians such as Cecil Taylor, Harri Sjöström, G&uum;nther Christmann, Eugene Chadbourne, Teppo Hauta-Aho, Mats Gustafsson, Thomas Lehn, Phil Wachsmann, and Joëlle Léandre. Lovens has run the record label Po Torch with Paul Lytton since 1976.
