A day of workshops and one-to-one sessions open to everyone interested in new music.

10.00-11.30 One-to-one composer surgeries

Your chance to discuss your work in a 30-minute session with Judith Weir or John Casken. Free of charge, but numbers are limited - advance booking ESSENTIAL. Email

12-12.15pm Composers' Day introduction

12.15 -1.15 Images of land and sea

Perennial sources of stimulation for composers. Why the fascination? John Casken considers this with reference to his own music.

14.00-15.30 Composers' workshop

Roberto Fabbriciani Richard Craig performs and discusses works for solo flute written by local composers especially for the day.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Roberto Fabbriciani will not be able to attend. He will be replaced by Richard Craig.

Call to composers!

If you'd like to try and have your piece featured in the above workshop please send in a short piece (less than 5 minutes) for solo flute by the 26th September 2008 (details in this downloadable document). Two or three pieces will be selected by Roberto Fabbriciani as the basis for this workshop.
