sound festival 2019

Energising North East Scotland with a bold and imaginative programme, soundfestival 2019 featured 12 new commissions and 20 world premieres.

Bringing performers from across the world to the festival with local artists, events took place in a variety of venues across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Throughout the festival there were opportunities to experience new music in informal spaces at late night soundsessions in the Belmont Filmhouse Cafe Bar, lunchtime concerts, and family-friendly events including our annual promenade concert at Aberdeen Maritime Museum.

The festival presented a number of events shining a spotlight on the oboe as it continued its five-year commitment to showcasing 'endangered' classical instruments.

soundfestival Director, Fiona Robertson, was presented with the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Leslie Boosey Award - a magnificent bronze eagle - in recognition of her dedication and passionate commitment to championing new music!
