Composer: Colin Riley

Made 2 Resonate is a series of 3 musical multi-sensory compositions, performances and installations encouraging audiences to listen differently, paying greater attention to small sounds and musical changes. It is music not only heard, but also seen and felt.

This research redefined a starting point for musical composition and listening by creating an experience that is uniquely open to possibilities for listeners of any kind. A central concept is the idea of a solo piece of music played by a single person with objects placed around them ‘joining in’ through their induced vibration.

In this online event, composer Colin Riley will introduce this work and show two short films followed by a Q&A with Professor Pete Stollery.

Film 1: An 8-minute compilation illustrating all three pieces. The second and third pieces were both performed at soundfestival in 2016 (by clarinetist Gareth Davies) and 2018 (by violist Nic Pendlebury).

Film 2: A 7-minute documentary made about Colin's piece for solo bass clarinet which was developed in a residence at the Suttie Arts Space, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary 2016.
