Glasgow-based flautist, Ruth Morley, performs specially commissioned works for solo flute or alto flute, all inspired by the title Lost and Found.
With life turned upside down and regular concerts halted last year as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ruth commissioned a series of new solo works. She has also written her own piece called Neon Flicker, and has recorded all of the new work alongside existing music for solo flute/alto flute by Edwin Roxburgh, Kazuo Fukushima, Kevin Leomo and Bill Sweeney.
The new commissions are by Lewis Murphy, Claire McCue, David Fennessy, Laura Bowler and Tansy Davies and each composer has responded to the theme in their own personal way.
Ruth’s homemade recordings are available to watch on YouTube and this is your chance to hear these pieces of music live in concert for the first time.
This project is supported by Creative Scotland.
This concert will be broadcast by BBC Radio 3 at a later date.
