Scottish Dance Theatre

Scottish Dance TheatreInteractive

A unique insight into Scotland's national contemporary dance company.

Using excerpts from the company's current works, the dancers, artistic directors and technical crew demonstrate how dance interacts with music, lighting and design. They will show sections of NQR, co-directed by Janet Smith, Caroline Bowditch and Marc Brew. The music for this work was specially composed by David Paul Jones and Robin Mason.

In the second half, the dancers will perform short works from the company's repertoire including the brooding duet, Drift by James Wilton and The Long and Short of It by Caroline Bowditch and Tom Pritchard, a unique and sexy duet exploring proportion.

Drift by James Wilton delights audiences by the highly charged physicality and daring surprises the dancers throw at each other, "an impressively powerful duet of exhilarating movement.

The Long and the Short of It is a short duet featuring SDT's Dance Agent for Change, Caroline Bowditch and our tallest dancer, Joan Cleville. The Long and the Short of It was created and performed as part of SDT's Interactive performances in Autumn 2008. Unpacking some big ideas, the work explores proportion and now features as part of SDT's programme.

SDT is a joy to watch and a groundbreaking company to be proud of.
