sound 2010
sound is North East Scotland's festival of new music, driven by the passion to make new music more accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. It embraces a network of local organisations to produce a varied programme of events exploring new music. As in previous years we will bring together a large range of different genres of music to appeal to a wide variety of tastes and encourage people to discover new sounds and widen their musical horizons.
sound is a festival with a refreshing lack of agenda - expect anything.
Paul Riley, Pick of the Month, BBC Music Magazine, Nov 2009
It's the innovative structure which is grounded in the community that allows sound to pursue an eclectic diversity that makes it one of the country's most hotly anticipated festivals.
Susan Nickalls, Classical Music, 10 Oct 2009
For the better part of the month, the cutting edge in contemporary classical music will rub shoulders with jazz, rock, traditional and electronic works, inspiring, beguiling and occasionally bewildering its audiences.
3 Things you can't miss, The Arts, Sunday Herald, 25 Oct 2009
Only five years ago, the sound festival was an idea driven by enthusiasm, no more no less. Today, it is a magnet.
Michael Tumelty, The Herald, 21 Oct 2009
