Nick Virgo
Nicholas Virgo (b. 1960) studied composition with Jonty Harrison and Vic Hoyland at the University of Birmingham where he was also an early member of the electronic music performance group BEAST. Since then, he has spent time as head of composition at Dartington College of Arts and has subsequently worked as a freelance composer in Germany and the UK. Much of his work in the last decade has been concerned with (unreliable and unstable) sound narratives, be they in the 'evidence' of one person's field recording, the transformation of these recordings in the studio and their eventual performance as a piece to an audience.
