
Duncan Chapman
Duncan Chapman: freelance Composer, Sound Artist, Educator and Performer regularly works with many leading music organisations in Britain including The Philharmonia Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Royal Festival Hall, CBSO, BCMG, Wigmore Hall, Huddersfield Contemporary music festival, BBC and Sound & Music.
He is a frequent traveller to more exotic locations doing projects and performances in Tokyo, Singapore, Budapest and throughout Europe. Much of his work involves collaboration with other artists and often results in sound installations, CDs and multi-media performances. He has had a long term collaboration with singer/choreographer Isabel Jones which includes installations, performances and participatory projects with Salamanda Tandem as well as duo performances and recordings in the UK and abroad.
Recent projects include: "Moving In" (Philharmonia Orchestra) for the reopening of the Royal Festival Hall, "You Are Hear", the London Sinfonietta Sonic Explorations Festival, "The music of electricity" at the 2009 Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, and an online collaboration project DrawSendPlay at the 2009 Making New Waves festival in Budapest.
Current projects include work with BCMG, Royal Opera House, De Montfort University ("Together, not together, quieter and more dense" premiere on 16 December 2010 with the Dirty Electronics Ensemble), Lambeth CLC, Buxton Festival, Love Music Festival (which tours to Shetland, The Outer Hebrides and mainland Scotland in 2010), an exploratory week at STEIM in Amsterdam in December 2010 and an organ restoration project in St Michaels Cornhill in London.
