Simon Thacker and the Nava Rasa Ensemble present: Inner Octaves

Award winning guitar virtuoso Simon Thacker leads one of the world's most exciting intercultural projects The Nava Rasa Ensemble, featuring nine of the UK's finest Indian and Western classical musicians, to present Inner Octaves, a powerful and innovative programme exploring the confluence of Asian and Western cultures.

Also featuring renowned Carnatic (south Indian) violinist Jyotsna Srikanth, Scotland's leading string quartet the Edinburgh Quartet, Indian tabla master Sarvar Sabri, multi-percussionist Iain Sandilands and Brazilian double bassist Mario Caribé, the Nava Rasa Ensemble's Inner Octaves programme is based around groundbreaking specially commissioned new concerti by two of today's most compelling music creators: acclaimed Scottish composer and music therapy pioneer Nigel Osborne has assimilated the unique shadings, colours and rhythms of Indian music into his masterful modernist style; US based Indian composer Shirish Korde's music is an authentic presentation of his thorough Indian, Western classical and jazz training, melded with other diverse world cultures.

Experience daring yet immediate music performed by musicians of the highest calibre, representing three continents.
