Plundering a shared taste for the eclectic, Syntonic's music is a combination of bolshy beats and sublimely manic melodies. The duo, made up of Sue McKenzie (Salsa Celtica, Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra) on baritone / soprano saxes and Emma Smith (Gorillaz, Eliza Carthy Band) on double bass, made their Syntonic debut at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in Soho, London in January 2015 and since then have made a name for themselves with their ground-breaking Bitches Brew showcases. Sue and Emma have shared backgrounds in classical and latin music and both have toured nationally and internationally performing at Glastonbury, Womad, Madison Square Gardens and on Later... With Jools Holland. They perform original material exploring rich harmonies and dense grooves to create atmospheric soundscapes drawing on the experiences of these highly diverse musicians
