Taught by the late Donald Riddell, who learnt his fiddling from a relative of hers, Alexander Grant of Battangorm, Sarah-Jane is a tradition bearer of the old Highland style of fiddle playing. She also has a Masters degree in traditional Norwegian music and free improvisation from the prestigious Norwegian State Academy of Music.
Her duo with her husband, Finnish guitarist Juhani Silvola, has earnt rave reviews across the board, including 5/5 and Top of the World status from world music magazine, Songlines:
