Mimi Doulton is a soprano of British-Pakistani heritage, who has been living in Stuttgart, Germany since 2020. She studied Musicology and Foreign Languages at King’s College London, followed by a Masters in Vocal Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Second prize-winner at the 2021 John Cage Interpretation Awards Halberstadt, Mimi was also a finalist in the 2022 Royal Overseas League Vocal Competition and the 2024 Peter Hulsen Orchestral Song Award.
With a growing reputation as a performer of 20th and 21st century repertoire, Mimi has a particular commitment to creating new theatrical work. She has been involved in premieres by Brett Dean at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Oliver Leith at the Royal Ballet and Opera Linbury Theatre, Ludger Vollmer at Staatsoper Hamburg, GF Haas at the Tiroler Landestheater, Beat Furrer at Opernhaus Zürich, Philippe Manoury at Oper Köln, and Giorgio Battistelli at Birmingham Opera Company.
Concert highlights include Knussen’s Where the wild things are with the Bamberger Symphoniker, Leith’s Last Days with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Thomas Adès, Festival Cervantino in Mexico with London Sinfonietta, Musica Viva at the München Residenzsaal with soloists of the BRSO, and appearances with ICTUS at Musikfestival Bern, Decoder Ensemble at Time of Music Festival Finland, with le Nouvel Ensemble Modern at Place des Arts Montreal, the Castalian Quartet at Wigmore Hall, and with Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.
