Isacc Chai-Orson

Isaac Chai-Orson is a composer and artist from Lewisham, London. They are currently based in Glasgow, Scotland where they studied BMus Composition under the tutelage of David Fennessy at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Isaac works at the periphery of contemporary music, sonic arts, video art, and digital art; blending each discipline together to form a radical approach to artmaking in the (post)-post 9/11 world. Isaac's work can be described as ‘post-cringe’, responding to a world of cynicism with a post-ironic sincerity. Their work takes a keen interest in the re-contextualisation of media, the documentation of cultural trends, and the exploration of sound and music as an object.

Recent works have been performed by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra with Martyn Brabbins, Red Note Ensemble, GAIA duo and Radiophrenia. Outside of their concert music, Isaac’s film and theatre scoring has been featured in the Edinburgh Fringe, BFI London Film Festival and Aesthetica Short Film Festival.
