soundfestival (19th-24th October 2021) is making three short performances slots available for composers and performers to present new work. The 2021 festival has an environmental theme running through it, and propositions should have this as their theme. This call is particularly aimed at giving increased visibility to emerging composers and local composers. We encourage applications from underrepresented groups, notably female or other underrepresented genders, disabled and ethnic minority composers.
The propositions can be made by either performers and/or composers and can be purely new music or cross-art form (with new music). We would expect the propositions to be complete i.e. if a composer(s) is applying that they would have lined up the musician(s) they want to take part.
Details: The slots will be of 30 minutes maximum and will take place on Thursday 21st afternoon, Friday 22nd afternoon or Sunday 24th morning.
There is a maximum budget of £500 per performance, so we are expecting to receive propositions for small-scale performances.
How to Apply
Please complete this proposal form: https://forms.gle/Fo95eFJnRq8D8YN76
Deadline: 19th July 2021
We will let you know if your proposal has been selected by 30th July at the latest.

Selection process
As mentioned above sound is committed to working with and supporting composers from under-represented sections of the population. To enable this, there is a two-stage application process: an initial selection is made, and then this is narrowed down in a second stage selection process. If you are a female, disabled and/or BAME composer, you can self-select to be put forward automatically to the second round if you want.
