Lullaby - The Singing Bowl

On Saturday 16 March 2019, Yorkshire based arts organisation, Manasamitra, are bringing Lullaby – The Singing Bowl to the Portsoy Salmon Bothy.

Lullaby - The Singing Bowl is a contemporary exploration of night-time sounds interspersed with lullabies from India.

Sound artist Duncan Chapman interweaves a collection of night sounds from around the world to create a unique soundscape backdrop. This soundscape forms the perfect complement for the soothing Indian lullabies explored by vocalist Supriya Nagarajan.

A performance follows three days of outreach work where the artists have been exploring and collecting lullabies from people within the local community to include in the performance.

sound offers local community and early years groups the opportunity to have a workshop led by the performers of the concert, renowned Indian singer Supriya Nagarajan and sound artist Duncan Chapman. During these workshops you’ll get a chance to learn some Indian lullabies and even contribute your own favourite lullaby to be integrated into the final performance.

If you are a playgroup, nursery or any local group interested in singing in the Portsoy area and would like a workshop with the artists behind the creation of this beautiful event please contact admin@sound-scotland.co.uk for more details. All workshops are free of charge and subject to availability.
