As part of 57° North's Multimedia Music Journalism course, and shmu’s ongoing coverage of this year’s Sound Festival, Tilly O’Connor visited ACT Aberdeen ahead of an incredibly immersive performance of live audiovisual piece Requiem for Edward Snowden on Friday 23rd October.
The piece focuses on a number of themes which are extremely relevant to our lives in the 21st century, based around the actions and decisions of whistleblower Edward Snowden; loss of faith and security, the hacking of digital media, invasion of privacy and personal sacrifice.
Tilly helped film the show’s rehearsal, and spoke to composer Matthew Collings and visual artist Jules Rawlinson about the piece, the festival, and what they have planned for the future.
