In celebration of International Women’s Day (Mon 8 March), Claire M Singer features a selection of music by women composers she has commissioned through Organ Reframed.
This unique festival which Claire founded in 2016 at Union Chapel in London commissions new music for the organ broadening its current repertoire and pushing the boundaries of experimental music. The festival has commissioned artists including Éliane Radigue, Low, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Philip Jeck, Phill Niblock, Mark Fell, Mira Calix, Darkstar, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Sarah Davachi.
Claire M Singer is a composer and performer of acoustic and electronic music, film and installations.
Known for her experimental approach to the organ her work draws inspiration from the dramatic landscape of her native Scotland, exploring rich harmonic textures and complex overtones that create ever-shifting melodic and rhythmic patterns disappearing almost as soon as they emerge.
"Claire M Singer really knows how to wring the best out of this magnificent instrument, creating moments of sustained rapture."
