Ross Whyte (piano) will be performing tracks from his new album, ‘Provenance’ and showcasing the accompanying interactive book. Fusing neo-classical, jazz, electronica and folk elements to explore the origins and journey of 17th century Gaelic tunes through time.

‘Provenance’ focuses on the convergence between old and new and explores the origins and journey of Gaelic melodies and poetry, and their evolution through time and cultural filters. Many of the tracks are specifically inspired by 17th-century Gaelic poetry, particularly that of Eachann Bacach, whose work praises loyalty, sacrifice, and heroism – concerns that mirror our modern struggles and offer a bridge between the past and the present.

‘Provenance’ is accompanied by a book – the second issue of The Bothy Society’s album book collection, which present a new way to experience music by combining elements of liner notes, scores, photography, and visual art with augmented reality (AR) through ‘The Fire Side’ companion app to offer an innovative, immersive way of interacting with the record’s visuals and music.

In addition to performing tracks from the album, the performance will feature readings from the book and demonstrations of the app.

Event is free but donations welcome.
