“Aeolian” - relating to or arising from the action of the wind.
Aeolian draws its inspiration and title from the “breath” of the accordion.
Norwegian composer Maja Ratkje, UK installation artist Kathy Hinde, and Danish accordionist Andreas Borregaard have collaborated to create this deeply-integrated new work that combines newly-designed air-powered instruments with live musicians to create a new part-performance, part kinetic-sculptural work.
Commissioned by Red Note Ensemble, Aeolian won a Scottish Award for New Music earlier in the year following its premiere performance at hcmf//.
