You can hear me. I know you can. I need your help. Listen carefully – it may be the last voice you ever hear.
Aberdeen Performing Arts is delighted to invite you to the premiere of a pilot episode of Akiha Den Den, an exciting new radio drama created in North East Scotland by writer Neil Cargill and musician and composer Simon James of black channels.
Akiha Den Den is a strange abandoned community whose mysterious transmissions have been picked up by radio ham Mr Cuttings, played by Ian McDiarmid (born in Carnoustie, Ian is most famous for his role as Emperor Palpatine in Return of the Jedi). Other cast members are Scottish actress Joy McAvoy (Angels’ Share, River City) and Ewan Petrie. Originally from Banchory, Ewan has performed on stages around Scotland.
Tonight will be the first opportunity to experience transmissions from this other world all accompanied by a live synthesiser performance by Simon James. The cast members themselves will be present by voice only.
Akiha Den Den has recently been awarded Creative Scotland funding to create a full six episode series with development opportunities for emerging North East Scotland based writers and musicians. Tonight Neil and Simon will share more information about these opportunities and the series as a whole.
This Artist Exchange forms part of Aberdeen Performing Arts’ programme of new work aimed at nurturing, promoting and producing new talent, new voices and new ideas.
This free event is open to anyone and will take place in The Studio theatre, The Lemon Tree, 5 West North Street, Aberdeen, AB24 5AT from 6pm – 7.30pm. Please RSVP Lesley Anne Rose on lesleyanne.rose@aberdeenperformingarts.com by Tuesday 2 February if you would like tickets
