Graeme Stephen: Letters for Peace

  • Performance

Graeme Stephen (guitar), Aidan O’Rourke (violin), Laura Jane-Wilkie (viola/violin), Mario Caribe (double bass)

The premiere of a new work by composer and guitarist Graeme Stephen for guitar and string trio inspired by letters written by conscientious objectors who refused conscription to fight during the First World War.

The work is intended to show the futility of war through the words of objectors and will engage with the public perception of
war and highlight the sacrifices made by objectors in the name of peace.

This is an important new work by one of Scotland’s leading musicians, a gifted guitarist and an original and always inventive composer.
