  • Artist

Kaitlyn is a visual artist born in Glasgow, Scotland and currently studying a BA Hons in Contemporary Art Practice at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen.

Earlier in the year, she was involved in an exhibition called ‘Skotsko,Wkotcko’ in Macedonia on the 6th of February. The work was based on her reaction to the difference in culture and atmospheres that she experienced during her time there. In May of this year, along with some fellow artists, she organised and participated in ‘ In Three Words’, held at The Academy, Aberdeen. There, they asked the participants to describe their practice in as little as three words. This became a celebration of their hard work over the last year.

Her most recent work deals with a term called Acatalepsy - the impossibility of comprehending the universe. Drawing on personal experiences, examining her surroundings and the using combination of Biology, Chemistry and Meta-Physics, Kaitlyn challenges what we have come to know, and delve into the possibilities created by the unknown. In doing so, she has discovered many ways of analyzing the world around us, creating a whole new outlook for me and her work. In exploration through a variety of media, Kaitlyn uses her findings to question the idea that we, as humans, are the universe trying to understand itself.

As within, so without
As the universe, so the soul"
