Lead violinist Jacqueline Shave has sustained a deep cut to her index finger. This is healing but not in time for the premiere of KEIN in Aberdeen on 28th October. François Sarhan’s KEIN is a complex, virtuosic, multi-faceted work which requires the performers to sing, talk and move whilst playing their instruments, which makes it impossible for a replacement performer to be brought in at short notice. KEIN will be premiered at the Musiques Démesurrées festival in Clermont-Ferrand, France on Friday 11th November and will come to Aberdeen later in the year. This performance has been replaced by the renowned Bozzini Quartet from Canada. Please click on the image below to find out more about their programme. People who have already bought tickets for the KEIN can use the same tickets to see the Bozzini Quartet instead, or get a refund from APA box office or if they prefer they can keep their tickets which will be valid for the rescheduled date - still to be confirmed.

Red Note Ensemble have teamed up with composer, writer and visual artist François Sarhan to make a new work for string quartet… with a difference! Played on a set of new, invented stringed instruments designed by the composer, and integrating recorded texts from historical figures, this new work will explore the relationship between voice and instrument.

Co-commissioned by sound and Red Note Ensemble.
