Ensemble Thing

Ensemble Thing are a new music band from Glasgow. They play a mixture of their own music and that of other composers – recently tending towards minimalist/post-minimalists such as Terry Riley and Louis Andriessen.

They have played at multimedia extravaganza A Wee Tasty,  opened Behaviour (the Arches’ festival of new theatre), supported Mercury Music Prize nominees Led Bib, moved and shaked at the ArtMusFair  and collaborated with Polyphony on a sell-out performance at the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival.

Recent projects also include: in 2011, Ensemble Thing recorded music by John De Simone for the hauntingly beautiful work Alma Mater by Fish and Game which became an instant Edinburgh Festival Fringe hit and subsequently toured to Melbourne, London and Cologne. The ensemble was invited to perform at the new music festival Verona Risuona, Italy in May 2012 and at the 2013 Handmade, Homegrown concert series in The Hague, The Netherlands. In 2014 the ensemble was awarded funding from the Made in Scotland Showcase to take its show Replaceable Things to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
