Christina McMaster
Pianist Christina McMaster is a musician with a passion for performing, collaborating, and curating. She trained with Yonty Solomon and Douglas Finch at Trinity Laban before graduating with a first from The Royal Academy of Music where she studied with her inspirational mentor Joanna MacGregor. Here she developed a keen interest in the performance of contemporary music, working and performing for highly established composers Carl Vine, Tansy Davies, Sir Harrison Birtwistle amongst others.
Christina has performed extensively in a wide range of venues from arts clubs and intimate venues to major European concert venues and Festivals such as The Queen Elizabeth Hall, Aldeburgh Festival, Chipping Camden Festival, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Kongress Palais in Germany and Nuovo Teatro in Italy.
She has won numerous prizes and scholarships. In 2013 she was awarded the Jacob Barnes Award for a collaborative curation project idea. In the same year she won The Royal Academy Recital Prize, The CAVATINA Chamber music trust prize and audience prize, and as finalist in the Jaques Samuels Intercollegiate Competition she was awarded the audience prize.
She recently premiered a newly devised Opera with Sky Arts Award winning group Silent Opera at Aldeburgh Festival. She is curator of the annual Piano and Multimedia Festival taking place at the Royal Academy of Music this June- Future performances include at Ronnie Scott’s and Sound Festival, Scotland.
