Haftor Medbøe Group has rapidly become a mainstay of the Scottish Jazz Scene both headlining and supporting visiting artists such as Esbjorn Svensson Trio and Bill Frisell. With roots in Norway, Iceland, Poland and Australia the group brings a fresh and invigorating approach by fusing contemporary sound worlds with strong melodies over driving grooves. Taking inspiration from Scottish bands Mogwaii and Boards of Canada, HMG brings jazz with an edge to a new and eager audience.
Eva studied bass with amongst others 'the great Dane' Nils Henning Ørsted Pedersen at the Conservatory of Rhythmic Music in Copenhagen. A stalwart of Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Eva has played in festivals and venues around Europe. As a recipient of the prestigious Sonning Music Award, Eva furthered her studies at the world renowned Hanns Eisler Hochshule Für Musik in Berlin.
The concert will feature music from the band's latest album NEW:HAPPY which was recorded in Scotland and Denmark in May this year with guest bassist Eva Malling. Mixed and mastered in North Berwick by 'the man with the golden ears' Calum Malcolm, a limited edition of 80 handnumbered pre-release CDs will be on sale at the concerts.
