Donald Hawksworth is well known in the North East of Scotland as pianist and organist. After studies at the Royal College of Music, he pursued a career in education, teaching for many years at Aberdeen Grammar School before becoming Adviser in Music to first Aberdeen then Grampian Education Authorities. His work with Youth Choirs and Orchestras covered a wide range of music, often featuring the music of Benjamin Britten. Following early retirement from his post of Adviser, he has devoted more time to performing and examining. He was pianist in the Aberdeen Trio, giving concerts throughout Scotland, and his examination work for the Associated Board has taken him several times to the Far East. He is an experienced hill walker - a Munroist, in fact, and he enjoys travel, photography and giving slide shows.
