In an exciting new mixed media concert, two outstanding artists collaborate to present Xenakis’ revolutionary ideas, architecture and music, through live narration, image, film and performance. Nouritza Matossian, biographer and friend of Xenakis, talks about the composer, his innovative approach, and introduces three compositions for cello. Rohan de Saram, maestro of classical and contemporary cello repertoire, plays musical examples and performs three compositions, Nomos Alpha and Kottos for solo cello and Epicycles for 13 instruments. Rohan is joined in Epicycles by 12 local musicians who will have worked with Rohan and conductor John Harris prior to the talk.
