Pianist Dave Stapleton and saxophonist Ben Waghorn established this duo after performing together frequently in the Dave Stapleton Quintet. Their music is predominantly taken from DSQ's first two releases When Life Was In Black And White and The House Always Wins, the latter having only been released this year and was recently described by the Guardian as "a real UK jazz revelation". Drawing upon a formidable grasp of Jazz, Classical and World styles the music is full of powerful, driving rhythms and lingering melodic hooks.
