As part of this weekend's opera weekend at soundfestival, 3 short operas will be popping up in unusual and unexpected locations in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen.
Errollyn Wallen's The Engine Room tells the tale of a ship 'The Brilliant' which crashed into Aberdeen Harbour in 1839. The opera is an exchange between the ship’s Chief Engineer and Captain Morrison the Harbour Master.

The year is 1715 at Mercat Cross in Aberdeen and the Earl Marischal, attended by his men, is preparing to proclaim James Francis Stuart (the Old Pretender) as the rightful King of Scotland.
