The Maiden Stone was a sound and technology project where pupils learned how to create soundscapes using recordings they made on Bennachie, a range of hills in Aberdeenshire.
The project took place in 2014. Over a series of workshop sessions locally based electro acoustic composer and sound artist, Pete Stollery, worked with pupils from Monymusk, Market Place, Inverurie, Chapel of Garioch/Oyne and Keig Schools.
The pupils learned how to edit their sounds and to upload them onto a sound map. The pupils were encouraged to reflect on and write about their sounds.
This project was delivered as part of Aberdeenshire Council's Youth Music Initiative Formula Fund programme.
