Re:Sound, an opera about sounds

Created by Duncan Chapman, Re:Sound is a participatory opera composed out of materials collected by the participants, starting with the question “what is your favourite sound in the world that isn’t a musical instrument or piece of music?”.  The responses were used to generate sounds, images and texts that will be woven together to create a unique event.

Composers / sound artists / musicians Duncan Chapman and Isabel Jones worked with pupils from Banchory School, Hill of Banchory School and Strachan School in several workshop sessions and at the end of the project the schools came together to showcase their work at Woodend Barn in Banchory.

This project took place in 2013 and was delivered as part of Aberdeenshire Council's Youth Music Initiative Formula Fund programme.
