'We need to talk/Il faut qu'on parle' is a Franco-British project in collaboration with Les Détours de Babel in Grenoble.
The project brought together French cellist Noémi Boutin and British cellist Matthew Sharp who worked with French composer Frédéric Pattar and UK composer Laura Bowler to create two new works. The works explore the relationship between the two cellists and their shared and unshared language. Text and movement entwine with music in an intimate and innovative performance.
The works were premiered at soundfestival 2019 following two residencies in February (Macready Theatre, Rugby) and a further residency in Aberdeen in October. A further performance will take place at Festival Les Détours de Babel on 1 April 2020.
