Marketing & Events Management Intern

sound is offering a paid full-time Marketing and Events Management internship to a talented and dedicated individual who wants to develop a career in an arts marketing and event management role. 

sound is a new music incubator based in North East Scotland, encouraging new music creation and discovery. We run the annual soundfestival, as well as year-round activity supporting a wide range of composers, engaging with local communities and providing educational opportunities.

The chosen candidate will work closely with all members of the sound team supporting the delivery of new music events and our marketing and communications strategy.

Job Description

Job Title: Marketing and Events Management Intern

Summary

The Marketing and Events Management Intern will work closely with our Marketing and Audience Development Manager and our Coordinator supporting a wide range of activity in the run up to soundfestival 2022 and across the wider organisation. 

We will provide training, guidance and support, and give you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience.

Main responsibilities

Liaising with the Marketing & Audience Development Manager you will:

  • support the implementation of soundfestival’s marketing and communications strategy and audience development initiatives;
  • assist in all marketing and communication activities including creating and coordinating content across a variety of social media channels, web and print;
  • assist in the maintenance of sound’s website & databases;
  • assist in the implementation of research and evaluation surveys;

Liaising with the Coordinator you will:

  • assist in the planning and delivery of online and in-person events (e.g. workshops, concerts, rehearsals)
  • maintain the events databases;
  • work on the development of our soundbytes fundraising scheme;
  • recruit and coordinate volunteers at sound events;
  • collect and analyse monitoring and evaluation data from activities and assist with reporting.

In addition, you will:

  • undertake various other tasks across the organisation as required; 
  • ensure that the organisation complies with best practice through supporting and promoting all organisation policy, with specific attention to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups, Equalities, and Health and Safety.

Person specification

Essential

  • Applicants must be a member of the GCAS Talent Pool to apply
  • An ability to remain cheerful and work flexibly and efficiently under pressure
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook) and confident using social media and CMS
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of the team
  • Willing to work occasional weekends and evenings, as well as long and unsociable hours in the run up to and during the soundfestival
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

Desirable

  • Knowledge of soundfestival
  • Musician and/or an interest in contemporary classical music
  • Experience of meeting deadlines and handling multiple priorities
  • Experience of working/volunteering with an arts organisation and/or in a live event/festival environment

Terms and conditions

Place of work: Aberdeen (hybrid working with a mix of working from home and on-site)

Planned start date: 13 June 2022
Planned end date: 30 November 2022

Working days/hours: 35 hours per week with some weekend and evening work. In order to keep track of hours worked, a time sheet will need to be kept and submitted.

Salary: £9.90 per hour
