Fred Frith + Jasper Leyland

FRED FRITH + JASPER LEYLAND

Probably best-known for his guitar work, Fred Frith first came to attention as one of the founding members of the English avant-garde rock group Henry Cow. For more than thirty years now he has situated himself in the area where rock music and new music meet. He has collaborated with a number of prominent musicians, including Robert Wyatt, Brian Eno, The Residents, Lol Coxhill, John Zorn, Bill Laswell and Derek Bailey.

Jasper Leyland is the alias of sound explorer Jonathan Brewster, whose work combines melodic drone structures with deft acoustic manipulations and splashes of field recordings. He moves between a variety of instrumental sources such as zither, chimes, melodica, acoustic and electric guitars, and accordian, applying subtle digital processing and layers of found sound to craft dense organic compositions.
