COMPOSERS WORKSHOP DAY

 

A day of workshops and one-to-one sessions open to everyone interested in new music.

Programme:

10.00-11.00     One-to-one composer surgeries
Your chance to discuss your work in a 20-minute session with Fred Frith or James Clapperton.
Free of charge, but numbers are limited – advance booking ESSENTIAL

11.00-12.00     Writing for Strings: From Ferneyhough to Xenakis
With James Clapperton.
Including a performance of Ruben Sverre Gjertsen's Miniatures III by Sharleen Clapperton.

12.45-13.45     Composers’ workshop
Rohan de Saram performs and discusses works for solo cello written by composers especially for the day.

Call to composers
If you’d like to try and have your piece featured in the above workshop please send in a short piece (less than 5 minutes) for unaccompanied cello (standard tuning) by the 12th October 2007 to the address given below. Two or three pieces will be selected by Rohan de Saram as the basis for this workshop. Please download the call for composers document here to find more.
