During sound 2012 there will be many opportunities to participate in events and workshops.  We are in the process of completing the final details of our programme for the festival but as a taster of the treats to come we have two events planned in June soundlab at the University of Aberdeen and Rising Wave in Aberdeen City.

Are you interested in playing new music in Aberdeen? All welcome.

sound is forming soundlab, a collective of musicians who will rehearse and perform existing new music, newly commissioned works and works composed by local composers/members of the group.  The group will be run by clarinettist Joanna Nicholson and flautist Richard Craig, both regular performers in sound.

The first meetings of the group will be in Johnston Hall at the University of Aberdeen on:
Saturday the 2nd June (12.30-5pm) and Sunday the 3rd of June (12.30-5pm)

Rising Wave

Celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games, with Rising Wave, part of Creative Scotland’s Summer of Song on 11 June. Rising Wave offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for choirs and singing groups in Aberdeen to take part in the city’s Olympic Torch Relay celebrations.

Aberdeen City Council in partnership with the sound festival will provide a unique experience for the people of Aberdeen to participate in the city’s Olympic festivities, uniting and connecting communities from a diverse range of backgrounds.  Established and new choirs and singing groups will be brought together to sing a new commission from Edinburgh based composer, Kenneth Dempster.
