Scottish Ballet: Autumn Double Bill

Fusing dance and movement, human and animal, electronic and symphonic

Hot from the Edinburgh International Festival, Scottish Ballet will perform the acclaimed work Emergence by leading contemporary choreographer Crystal Pite, coupled with Sibilo, a world premiere by Scottish Ballet’s own emerging choreographic talent, Sophie Laplane.

Exploring dance in the electro world, both works are choreographed to electronic scores. Sibilo (whistle in Italian) finds humour in twisted orchestral sound in the commissioned score by Scottish music producer Alex Menzies aka Alex Smoke, while Emergence combines elegant ballet with dark, eerie synth by award winning composer Owen Belton (Emergencewon the Dora Mavor Moore award for best dance score).
